Sharon Elizabeth (McManaway) Russell

Sharon Elizabeth Russell, age 83, of Speedwell, TN, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born in Monroe, MI, on August 19, 1939, to the late Harry and Coella McManaway. Sharon was saved as a young woman and was a member of Dogwood Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and watching her Atlanta Braves, and she loved her life as a military wife. Sharon also had a special heart for missions. Known as the “Bookstore Lady,” she touched many lives as a volunteer worker at the bookstore at Cumberland Gap High School. Sharon was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend, and she will be greatly missed.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Coella Hopson McManaway of Monroe, Michigan; husband, Jim Russell of Speedwell, Tennessee; son, Jim Jason Russell of Tazewell, Tennessee; brothers, Zach McManaway of Monroe, Michigan, and Monte McManaway of Florence, South Carolina; sisters, Jennifer Smith of Speedwell, Tennessee, and Daphne Weiss of Monroe, Michigan; and son-in-law, Vernon Little of Speedwell, Tennessee.

Sharon is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Patty Beeler Russell of Speedwell, Tennessee; daughter, Kelli Little of Speedwell, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Trena Brock Russell of Tazewell, Tennessee; grandchildren, Tyler Russell of Silver Spring, Maryland, Megan Cinnamon of Speedwell, Tennessee, Devin Gulley of Tazewell, Tennessee, and Kameron Russell of Tazewell, Tennessee; special friends, Eileen Loth and Prudy Wood; and a host of great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel in Harrogate, Tennessee.  The service will be officiated by Sharon’s pastor, Travis Pressnell.  Music will be provided by the Dogwood Heights Singers.  Burial will be on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Ausmus Cemetery in Speedwell, Tennessee.  The family procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 AM.  Pallbearers will be Patrick Russell, David Russell, Joe Harrison, Jr., Jason Russell, Sean Jessie, Matthew Russell, Travis Russell, Chris Jessie, and Corey Russell.  Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Rector.
