Roy "Coach" C. Bryant

Mr. Roy C. “Coach” Bryant, age 74 of Harrogate, TN was born March 29, 1945 and passed away peacefully January 25, 2020 at his home in Harrogate. Coach Bryant had tremendous compassion for children as he was employed with the Claiborne County Board of Education for 35 years. He served as the principal, boys basketball coach, and girls basketball coach at H.Y. Livesay Middle School during his 35 years. Following his compassionate career, the H.Y. Livesay gym was dedicated and named after Coach Bryant. Some of his other passions was hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; Roy and Martha (Oaks) Bryant. He is survived by his loving companion of 21 years; Beverly Laws, niece; Kimberly Bryant and her son Colton, nephew; Russell Bryant and wife Kimbra and their sons, and sister-in-law; Barbara Bryant. He is also survived by a host of other loving neighbors and friends.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Coach Bryant’s dear friend Dan Redmond, for all of the love and care that he gave to Coach Bryant and all of the family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 4PM until 7PM with funeral services to follow at 7PM in the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel with the Rev. Matthew Sandefur officiating. Eulogy will be provided by Dan Redmond, reflections by Dr. John Michael Robertson and David Ray. Music will be provided by Ken Wilson and Andrea Gibson.

Family and friends will meet at the Valley Chapel at 10AM Wednesday to go in procession to the Harrogate Cemetery for 11AM graveside services.
