Mary Anne (Sharp) Hatmaker, 98, of Nashville, TN, left this life and stepped into the loving arms of Jesus on June 20, 2023. Mary Anne was born and raised in Cumberland Gap, TN. During High School she worked briefly at the LaFollette Shirt Factory which helped encourage her lifetime love for sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress providing clothing for herself and her family for many years. She attended Lincoln Memorial University. During WW2 she worked as an elementary school teacher in Anderson County and then worked in Oak Ridge, helping with her small part in the top-secret development of the atomic bombs, keeping her secrets safe until the very end of her life. After the war she married her husband, Herbert Hatmaker of Lake City, TN, and moved to Detroit where she birthed her only child. After moving to suburban Roseville, MI, she was a fulltime homemaker and mother, actively attending and making many lifelong friends at Bethel Baptist Church. After Herbert’s retirement they moved back to her childhood home, the big white farmhouse on Pearman Road, where she was able to continue and expand her love of gardening and enjoy many years with family and friends. She actively attended Gap Creek Baptist Church in Arthur, TN, and later Shawanee Baptist Church in Harrogate, TN, again making many more lifelong friends. In 2018 Mary Anne moved to Nashville, TN to live with her son and family until her passing, remaining a member of Shawanee Baptist Church up until her death.
Mary Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, her parents, Walter and Pearl Sharp, her siblings Auburn Sharp, Marvin Sharp and Bobbie Reynolds, and four grandchildren, Emily, Chris, Hope and Jonathon.
