Casper David Moore Obituary

Casper David Moore, age 75, of Middlesboro, KY went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 15, 2023.

David was born on March 5, 1948 in Middlesboro, KY to Rev. Casper “Tip” and Evelyn VanBever Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; special uncle Bud Moore, and brother-n-law Keith Rogers.

He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Nancy Chumley Moore; son and daughter-in-law John and Teri Moore; and granddaughter, Maridith - whom he adored.  Extended cherished family: Sue and Bert Jarvis, Brenda Rogers, Chris and Kyle Rogers (Addison and Zachary), Brian and Becky Rogers (Jordan, Aaron, Brianna); Amy and Wayne Dawson (Nick and Emily); and many other family members.  He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Darby, who will miss him greatly.

David enjoyed hot rods and classic cars, restoring antiques, and his morning coffee from McDonald’s. He loved writing; posting several short stories on his own online blog, and even had two of his stories published.  He looked forward to his get-to-gathers with longtime best friend Dennis Hamlet who he would meet faithfully to share their love of coffee, discussions with special neighbor and friend Jeremiah Wallace, and Saturday mornings at Hardee’s with his bible study group. He also very much appreciated the support and friendship of special neighbor and Pastor, David King.

He earned a bachelor’s of business degree from Lincoln Memorial University. He was well known as owner/operator of Moore Photo - first in the Middlesboro Mall, then located in downtown Middlesboro. During these years David photographed thousands of individuals, families, weddings, events, and ball teams. Moore Photo’s wall of portraits was our town’s “facebook” before facebook ever was.

After his photography career, David served as the Human Resources Director for Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Kentucky. He loved his co-workers and always considered them his extended family. He later joined First State Bank and retired from there after 11 years in 2014 as Vice President of Human Resources. After retirement, he loved to keep ‘regular office hours’ working in his basement restoring and refurbishing antiques.

David impacted the lives of many people along the way, and will always be loved and cherished.

A Celebration of Life for David will be held at Shiloh Church in Middlesboro on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. with visitation from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
