Betty Sue Stanley

Betty Stanley, age 80, of Ewing, VA, passed away on February 14, 2022 at Claiborne Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born on August 29, 1941 in Ewing, VA.

She was a beautiful, strong, loving mother and grandmother, who is irreplaceable. She devoted her life to her family, making countless sacrifices in order to better the lives of her children. She loved her family unconditionally without any expectations in return. With her every smile she brought happiness. She was an inspiration to us all. To the world, she was a mother, but to her family, she was the absolute world. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Stanley; Her father and mother, Bruce (Alpha) West; Sister, Evelyn West; Son, David Williams (whom we are certain she is enjoying a piece of chocolate pie with); and brother-in-law, Spurgeon Thompson.

She is survived by her children: Roger Williams of Ewing, VA; Tom Williams of Middlesboro, KY; Deborah (Keith) Yeary of Ewing, VA; Donna (Jerry) Yeary of Ewing, VA; Janette (Danny) Ayers of Sharps Chapel, TN; Nancy (Jeff) Scott of Ewing, VA; Becky Hawk and special friend Tyler Begley both of Sharps Chapel, TN; Daughter-in-law, April Williams of Rose Hill, VA; Two brothers: Luke (Pat) West of Ewing, VA; Elijah (Jean) West of Ewing, VA; Two sisters: Jean Thompson of Harrogate, TN, Joette (James) Shackleford of LaFayette, IN; Grandchildren: Lindsey Wiliams, Samantha (Nick) Hill, Ada Williams, Alex Williams, Alisha Chadwell, David Dow Williams, Whittney (Jed) Rowelette, Adam (Jessica) Williams, Ty Williams, Eli Williams, Mathew (Amber) Yeary, Justin (Brittany) Yeary, Amanda (Travis) Bertram, Jessica Hensley, Andrew Ayers, Cheyenne (William) Lamar, Cameron Ayers, Khloe Ayers, Brittany Williams, Courtney Barnett, Hailee (Kyle) Fischer, Bradley Yeary, Kelly Nicks and Angela Smereck; along with a host of great grandchildren. Also special friends: Betty Williams and Linda Porter.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 at Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel Funeral Home in Harrogate, TN. Funeral Services will follow with Rev. Justin Yeary officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 1:00 p.m. in the Spade Cemetery in Ewing, VA. Anyone wishing to travel in the procession to the cemetery is asked to meet at the funeral home at 12 noon. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Due to Covid-19, the family kindly asks that everyone in attendance please wear a mask during all services.
