Alta Boggs McDowell, 83 of Speedwell, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at her home. She was born on Big Fork in Leslie County, Kentucky on October 14, 1937 and was a daughter of the late Levi and Martha Lewis Boggs. Alta lived a Christian life and was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lou McDowell and granddaughter, Natasha Gilreath.
Survivors include her children, Virginia Stidham and husband, Zenith, Carolina Pennington and husband, Harold, Marcus Lee McDowell, and Eugene McDowell and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Brad Pennington, Travis Pennington, Amanda Gilreath, Alex Stidham, Nina Hensley, Tina Whitehead, Larry Stidham and Mai Jin Mai; great-grandchildren, Jayslyn, Isabella, and Bradley Pennington, Christopher, Austin, Shelby, Summer, and Brooklyn Gilreath, Kylie Hensley, Carson Whitehead, Jr., Ashley Whitehead Browning, and Blake and Dalton Stidham; great-great-granddaughter, Layla Browning; sisters, Suzy Callahan, and Elvie Callahan and husband, Belve; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel. A funeral procession will leave for the Beeler Cemetery in Speedwell at 1:00 PM, where graveside funeral services will follow the visitation. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
